Industry Organisations
This page will provide links to some of
the Professional and Industry Organisations.
European Association of Geoscientists
and Engineers (EAGE)
EAGE (European Association of
Geoscientists & Engineers) is the leading European based
international organisation of geoscientists and engineers.
EAGE looks after combined interests of
those active or interested in the application of geoscience
and related engineering disciplines to solutions of problems
in petroleum exploration and production, in mineral
industries, for water production, environmental protection
or civil engineering.
Hydrographic Society
Founded in 1972
and with headquarters based at the University of East
London. The Hydrographic Society is an international learned
organization maintaining five national branches, in
Australasia, the Benelux, Denmark, the UK and US. Membership
is global and broadly based, being drawn from over 70
countries. Members, both individual and institutional,
represent the fields of hydrography, oceanography,
geophysics, civil engineering and associated disciplines at
all levels of expertise. Organizations represented include
contract survey companies, port authorities, government,
military and public service authorities, petroleum
companies, research and educational institutes, professional
bodies and other learned associations, acoustic and
electro-magnetic system manufacturers, dredging and salvage
contractors, and surveyors in all sectors of private
practice.
International Association of
Geophysical Contractors (IAGC)
IAGC is the international trade
association, headquartered in Houston, USA, and a
Secretariat in London, England, which represents the
industry that provides geophysical services (geophysical
data acquisition, seismic data ownership and licensing,
geophysical data processing and interpretation, and
associated services and product providers) to the oil and
gas industry.
International Association of Oil and
Gas Producers (OGP)
The association was formed in
1974 to develop effective communications between the
upstream industry and an increasingly complex network of
international regulators. Originally called the E&P Forum,
in 1999 the name International Association of Oil & Gas
Producers (OGP) was adopted.
Offshore Oil and Gas Environment Forum
The OEF Web site is a medium to
locate and disseminate information regarding environmental
and sustainable development issues pertinent to the offshore
oil and gas industry.
Society of Exploration Geophysicists
(SEG)
The Society of Exploration
Geophysicists promotes the science of geophysics and the
education of exploration geophysicists. The Society fosters
the expert and ethical practice of geophysics in the
exploration and development of natural resources, in
characterizing the near-surface, and in mitigating earth
hazards.
United Kingdom Offshore Operators
Association (UKOOA)
UK
Offshore Operators Association (UKOOA) is the representative
organisation for the UK offshore oil and gas industry. Its
members are companies licensed by the Government to explore
for and produce oil and gas in UK waters.
